Dieting and Business with the Mother Theresa of Foods9:06 PM on a Monday I start tapping away on the board containing keys. It's a Microsoft keyboard, very comfortable design. Just got done eating an arugula and salmon salad. I didn't use to like arugula, but suddenly it's become my favorite leafy green. (We all have favorite leafy greens, right? *crickets*). There's a great farmers market every Saturday here in San Francisco and there's a guy that sells the greatest smoked salmon you could ever eat. It's thin sliced, slightly smoky, slightly salty, and nothing subtle at all about it's awesomeness.
Salmon on arugula is a great lunch or dinner meal when you're keeping tabs on the ol' waistline. It's full of flavor, light on calories and gives you a nice little dose of Omega-3 fatty acids. I'm sure you've heard of Omega-3's, right? Good for the heart, dieting, fighting off an array of diseases. Heck, that's just scratching the surface. They're like the Mother Theresa of foods. Get yourself a plane ticket and get out here and pick yourself up some salmon from the farmer’s market on Fillmore St. I really should partner up with this guy. He can make it and I'll sell it. I'd sell the hell out of this stuff. Just goes to show when you have a passion for a product, you're a natural salesman. I wouldn't want to be sold salmon by someone who's heart just wasn't into it. I shouldn't say that, come to think of it, if I had to smell fish all day I wouldn't want to eat it - or talk about it. My salmon selling business is gone in the blink of an eye. That was quick. At least I didn't have much overhead. Speaking of overhead, it's been a while since I've had my ceiling painted. No, I don't paint my own ceiling. I don't like to paint because I'm not good at it. In many cases I believe you should take the money you earn from doing something you love and are good at and pay the people who love their job to do the things you hate. Oil change? Check. Web design? Check. Working out? Now THAT could be a lucrative business. How much would you pay someone to workout for you. Like if there was somehow some way to transfer exercise results to someone else? A thousand bucks? Nah- I'd bet more, right? What if you go to hire a personal trainer and he says "I'm going to do 20 hardcore, one hour weights and cardio workouts for you for". That's just about a month of exercise that you don't have to do, but you're going to get the benefit. What would you pay? Think of the possibilities- an extra 20 hours in your month to go to a basketball game, write your novel, and fly to San Francisco for salmon and arugula salad. You know, the Omega-3's found in salmon (besides making it easier to lose body fat) may also play a role in battling diabetes, joint pain, improving your mood, and give you some healthy looking skin, hair and nails. Don't like fish? I get it. Source yourself some high quality fish oil supplements. I use Carlson's lemony liquid. It tastes great and you can pour it on whatever else you're eating and you don't sense fish at all. It's also great to have on hand because as much as I love salmon, you can only eat so much. I eat salmon and arugula Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. You know why? Consistency. Everyone knows consistency is the key to success, right? I guess I successfully eat salmon. I lied. I don't really eat it for consistency, I eat it because it's delicious and I buy 3 packs and that lasts 3 days. Any more than 3 days and it's just not as delicious anymore, so I stop at 3. Three is a good number. Lucky number 3. Is that a thing or did I just make it up? Someone google that for me. In the meantime I'm going to wrap it up with my favorite 3 current things. Let’s go random. Scrimshaw beer. This stuff is delicious served up in a frosty mug on a hot day. I just stumbled on it a few weeks ago at Woodhouse restaurant while I was eating an overstuffed lobster roll (great eating spot by the way). No idea if it's nationwide or local to the Bay Area, but maybe while you're googling you can look it up. House of Cards on Netflix. Great show, just found it. Watched the first 3 episodes back to back this weekend. I got sucked in and couldn't let go until I was upon episode 4. Then I had to get up and stretch and that led me to tapping on the good ol' keyboard once again. Probably typed non-stop for about an hour and 45 minutes or so. Once the brain goes it goes. Who are we to stop it? The weather in the Bay Area. Specifically San Francisco. Great stuff. I'll tell you what, I moved from NYC here a few years back. Every summer since then has been crappy. Overcast, cold. Wearing a sweatshirt or jacket every day from 4 PM onwards. Whoever said that bit about the coldest winter he's ever endured was a summer in San Francisco- I feel you, bro. You weren't lying. But SF weather has redeemed itself this year. Incredible warmth and sunshine with just a handful of dud days. I don't mind some wind and rain and clouds occasionally, but over the years it's been ridiculous. No vitamin-D for you! And with that the clock hit 10 PM. 54 minutes. Good talk. I'm going to take some ZMA and wind down. I hope you enjoyed. Isabelle is Livin La Vida LocaThey told me to "Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview".
